Job Description:
As a Backend Developer you will focus on building robust and scalable solutions for webshops catering to some of the most exciting brands in the Netherlands. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining server-side logic, database structures, and integrations. Collaborating with a talented team of developers, you’ll ensure seamless functionality and high-performance backends for our e-commerce projects. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for backend development in the fast-paced world of online retail.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend solutions for webshops using PHP and MySQL.
- Implement efficient database schemas and optimize queries for performance.
- Integrate APIs and third-party services to extend webshop functionalities.
- Ensure backend code adheres to best practices, scalability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to project planning and provide insights into technical feasibility and complexity.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience with PHP, MySQL and Symfony.
- Deep understanding of backend development best practices, including RESTful API design and database optimization.
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and the feature branch model.
- Experience with package managers and build tools (e.g. composer, npm).
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent in English (Dutch language skills not required).
Bonus Skills:
- Knowledge of e-commerce platforms (Shopware / Shopify / Magento) is highly desirable.
- Experience with cloud platforms or DevOps tools (e.g., AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
- Familiarity with frontend technologies to understand cross-functional workflows.
- Knowledge of caching mechanisms (Redis, Memcached) and message queues.
